But the early results have Lashley coming out as a loser as Chad Griggs TKO'd him at the 5-minute mark of round two.
Lashley was a big-time favorite in the Strikeforce odds going into this one but Griggs pummeled him with punches after stuffing a takedown.
He eventually got some big shots in on Lashley as the second round ended and Lashley stood up but was so wobbly that the referee had no choice but to call it.
Lashley dominated much of the fight but the poor takedown attempt and Griggs stuffing it led to the loss for the former WWE star Lashley.
The Bobby Lashley vs. Griggs result was a major upset in the MMA world and the bad news continues for Strikeforce, who was trying to promote a new superstar.
Fedor Emelianenko also lost, throwing a wrench in the SF plans, and others such as Gegard Mousasi and Shinya Aoki are among the big names who have lost in recent events.
Stay tuned for more results as the fight night continues with two title fights on the card still to go between some of SF's biggest stars.
Once again, the Bobby Lashley vs. Griggs result: Griggs by TKO at 5:00 in the second round in a heavyweight bout.
