Inside is very bright and inviting. Off to the right is a pie case with the register and past that to the right side of the restaurant are booths along the window with seating in the middle. If you look straight ahead when walking in, there are several more booths and a salad bar. When we walked in, we had to wait briefly to be seated. There was no one else waiting but the table that we wanted to sit at needed to be cleaned. It wasn't a problem to wait.
Our booth was comfortable. The booths are close to each other with no privacy so when you're at a booth you can see your neighbors quite well. This is not a problem if you have considerate diners but you may want to be wary for people with kids who may not be able to handle having other people that close without bugging them. I have three kids myself and put my youngest (who might bug other people) on the side of the booth with me that didn't have anyone at the back.
Right about now is when we started to have trouble. Our server was a woman. She wasn't very friendly, got some items mixed up and we had a heck of a time getting refills, our check, etc. The service was so bad that, that is the number one reason I would not want to go back. With that being said, my grandparents who were also vacationing there came in when we were getting ready to leave. I warned them not to have our server and they got someone else who provided them with fabulous service.
The food itself was only average. The kids ordered off the children's menu (two of them had chicken strips and macaroni) and my dining companion and I had burgers. Thankfully I asked for the "secret sauce" on the side. I tasted it and it was not to my liking, it is an acquired taste though I am sure many people like it. I ordered a salad (NOT from the salad bar) with my meal and the waitress never brought it. I had to ask for it after my food was brought. I would have asked for it before our burgers arrived but she never came to check on us! The price of the food was moderate and comparable to other restaurants.
While we were there I did see several people have carryout orders so if you live in the area, are at a hotel or work close by, it may be a good place to grab a meal if you don't have to mess with the servers.
The best thing about our Bob's Big Boy experience was the statue of Bob outside. For tourists and locals alike, its fun to take a picture with Bob so be sure to bring your camera for a little fun.
