Body of Christ is Safe Haven for the Abused

Pastor's have the responsibility to take care of the flock. Many times they forget who the flock truly belongs to. Jesus said to Peter to "feed my little sheep". That is because you, little lamb, belong to Him. If you believe that Jesus died for your sins, then you are a part of that flock or body. Another term we hear is Body of Christ.

This makes the idea of us belonging to Christ even more personal. If a pastor abuses his flock with guilt or unnecessary put downs, then he abuses Christ himself. That is why the abused can take confidence in knowing that they belong to Jesus not to any church or pastor. He purchased us with his blood. The best that pastors can do is give us a good show, comfortable seating, and hopefully some healthful words in line with Christ.

This point of view is lost on many pastors because they view the flock they are in front of as their own and not belonging to Christ. You wouldn't take hold of Jesus hand and start to crush it to cause pain would you? So why do some pastors take a diligent person seeking understanding through a process that eventually makes them a cog in the wheel of their well functioning congregation? What Jesus intends for the person may have absolutely nothing to do with the pastor. Jesus continues to care for his flock through many channels, not just through one pastor. Its important to remember, we worship with spirit and truth, not the material and the lie.

Being a part of Christ's body deals with the very spirit of us not the physical. It leaves materialism and its physical tethers behind. The benefits are many and you are free to express yourself in Him many ways. There are no age requirements, location requirements, or knowledge requirements for that matter. You don't need a degree or doctorate because Holy Spirit will truly finish your training. Jesus said his load is light unlike the varied practices within todays religions.

Our material world continues to be eroded and conquered by illness, depression, economic distress, murders, strife, loneliness, anger, frustration, distrust, lies, secrecy, and everything else we may see in the headlines. We need to focus on our spiritual health. Jesus Christ is just the man to do it.

Through his wisdom, Jesus set up a way for us to be truly happy and it starts with us coming into a personal relationship with him. Simple enough. All you gotta do is ask through prayer.

May God bless your journey.
