Boettcher Concert Hall, home of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra is a unique building. The interior design and architecture is much different than any other concert hall I have been to. As opposed to the turn-of-the-century concert halls you routinely see on the east coast and midwest, Boettcher Concert Hall is a very modern setting. That allows the benefits of more recent technologies in sound dampening to quiet the background noise, as well as feedback. Due to the more contemporary design and advantages in sound design, this allows Boettcher Concert Hall to have seats at all 360 degrees around the sound stage. This unique feature gives the Hall a more open, inviting feel. It also allows seating and views at every angle to the stage. For symphony concerts, this gives music lovers the choice of where to sit, and which instruments they would like most to view. This, again, makes for a unique experience for the viewer.

The interior design is also very open, and inviting. The stairways to the different seating levels are open, instead of enclosed, giving it a feel of community, Inside the concert hall has the same effect. Each level is only an arc of a circle, with different levels overlapping in different areas. The open nature of each seating level makes you feel almost as if you are in an ampitheatre, and certainly not boxed into a dark building.

The people who attend are just as modern and laid back as the architecture. There is no need to feel forced to dress in black tie or a full length gown. All of this open environment, modern decor, and relaxed atmosphere make the symphony a destination for anyone. This is no longer entertainment reserved for the upper classes. This environment helps ensure that classical, popular and jazz music can be enjoyed by folks of any age and all walks of life.

Boettcher Concert Hall is located in downtown Denver, at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, at 1000 14th Street. To add to an evening performance, there are many restaurants within walking distance of the concert hall. Two blocks away is the 16th street mall, which has a wide array of restaurants and shopping. Symphony performances during the regular season stat at 7:30PM on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as 2:30PM on Sundays. There are special performances during the holidays and occasional weeknight events for one-time only performances. There is truly a show for everyone, and everyone can feel welcome at the Denver Symphony Orchestra.
