Boise State Broncos Vs. Virginia Tech Hokies Highlights

Broncos Comeback Over Virginia Tech Stages BCS Championship Game Debates

After giving up an early 17-0 lead, Boise State stages an improbable comeback to beat Virginia Tech 33-30.

At the end of the first quarter, one would think that Boise State, ranked number three in the country in the preseason college football polls, was set to steamroll over the rest of the country, as the Broncos built a 17-0 lead over the preseason number 10 Virginia Tech Hokies. However, Virginia Tech owned the second and third quarters, eventually building a lead in the third quarter off Boise State mistakes. One such mistake was a roughing the kicker penalty, which turned a missed field goal into a touchdown on the next play. In fact, penalties were a killer for Boise State, who had eleven in the game. During this time, the only Boise State highlight was a 71-yard touchdown run on third and one by running back D. J. Harper.

All of this was for naught, since the only score that counted was the one that occurred in Boise State's comeback drive. Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore, staring at having to score a touchdown in less than two minutes, took less than one to lead his team 56 yards down the field. Moore capped the game-winning drive with a 13 yard pass to Austin Pettis for the game-winner. Although they had to claw their way back to beat Virginia Tech, the Boise State Broncos proved that they have the mettle to contend for the National Championship. This will be a conversation that will continue well into December. Let the debate begin.
