Boise State Football Schedule Begins 2010 Against Virginia Tech

The 2010 Boise State football schedule began against Virginia Tech Monday. This 2010 Boise State football schedule gets much easier for the Broncos after their opening game, but they deserve a lot of respect for heading to the east coast to take on a Top 10 program. Boise State also isn't one of those programs that can sneak up on the national title game, even though they have had to live with heartbreak due only to voters in the BCS. Last season Boise State finished the season 13-0, but had to play undefeated TCU in the Fiesta Bowl. They won that game, finishing 14-0, but weren't even in the consideration for a national title.

Now Boise State is back, this season with a No. 3 ranking in the AP Top 25, but still down at No. 5 in the Coaches' Poll. Things could change pretty quickly if Boise State gets off to a hot start in the 2010 regular season, but they have put a lot on the line with the Virginia Tech game. Losing that game on national television could mean no BCS bowl games for this team, one that returns nearly every starter from the squad that went undefeated in 2009. There are some respectable opponents on the schedule in Oregon State on September 25 and Nevada on November 26, but those aren't schools that will have a lot of recognition in the BCS standings.

Can the Boise State Football program make it back into a great bowl game this season? That could depend entirely on how quarterback Kellen Moore and his tandem of stellar receivers are able to do in their 12 regular season games. As things stand though, Boise State could use help even if they finish the season undefeated, as they have to catch one of the top two ranked teams in the country. Right now Alabama is No. 1 and Ohio State is No. 2, and both of those schools looked extremely good in their opening games. Even though some of the other Top 10 teams might have had weak showing in week one games, those top two teams seem to be for real.

you pay your players well, the NCAA won't come that far north to investigate the payoffs. good plan.

Unfortunately for Boise State, even if they beat VT and go on to be undefeated once again, their lack of major winning colleges on their schedule will hurt them at season's end.
