This was easily the game of the week in college football, pitting the No. 3 ranked Boise State team up against the No. 10 ranked Virginia Tech team. Those rankings are according to the AP Top 25, and over in the Coaches' Poll, Boise State is ranked No. 5 and Virginia Tech is ranked No. 6. Those rankings are destined to change when the polls come out later this week, and hopefully the coaches really reward Boise State for what they were able to accomplish against one of the best teams in the ACC.
This game was much more important to Boise State, as they are trying to keep active in the national picture, and this is the most important game of their regular season. Virginia Tech has many more big games in their future, especially with five other teams in the ACC ranked in the Top 25. They have the possibility of an extra game in the 2010 ACC Championship game as well, so this is far from over for the Hokies. They have a tough road ahead, but with some games against teams like Miami, Georgia Tech, and North Carolina on the horizon, they still have a shot at a great BCS bowl game.
