Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida

Edward Bok created The American Foundation in 1925, later known as The Bok Tower Gardens. Edward William Bok died within sight of the tower on January 9, 1930. His body now rests at the base of the tower. The tower is surrounded by water with coy fish. The property has many beautiful gardens and trails you can walk on.

Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida was actually very beautiful to walk through and view, although, they had made some changes. Bok Tower Garden is a place to go and walk along paths and view flower gardens in a peaceful setting. Many people also come here to get married. You may pick the area where you wish to get married at. They have many different areas where you can have your dream wedding. This is a beautiful peaceful setting for a wedding.

This year we were excited to go because the last time we were there we hand fed the squirrels. These squirrels would come right up to us and eat out of our hands. These squirrels never once bit us. This was the first time any of us had actually been able to hand feed an animal in the wild.

Bok tower gardens have made a change since the last time we were there. The last time we went on vacation and visited Bok Tower Gardens, we could feed the squirrels that would come right up to us and feed out of our hands. While on this last vacation to Florida we went and visited Bok Tower Gardens. We wanted to get a picture of the squirrels eating out of our hands. While we were getting ready to feed one of the many squirrels, a woman approached us and informed us we could no longer feed the squirrels. She explained to us that on some occasions the squirrels would run right up children's arms and even at times bite them. While we were there we never witnessed this happening to others or ourselves. Even though we were informed not to feed the squirrels, we had to feed them one last time to get the picture we came there for.

All in all this was a beautiful peaceful place to just walk around and enjoy the scenery. Watching the squirrels at close range in bushes and running up close to you was enjoyable. If you are someone who is not able to do a lot of walking, I would suggest using a wheelchair. There are a lot of trails and they do have wheelchairs accessible.
