Aishwarya Rai is a name that is known by millions of people in India and Asia. Aishwarya is known for her beauty, as well as for her modeling and acting career that began as a teenager in India. The dark-haired beauty stands five feet seven inches tall and has stunning green-blue eyes. By any standard of beauty, Aiswarya Rai's beauty is recognized worldwide.

Early Beginnings

Aishwarya Rai was born on November 1, 1973, in Mangalore, in the Indian state of Karnataka. Her father was a merchant navy officer, who moved the family in 1977, to Mumbai. Aishwarya's values and lifestyle were influenced by her family, and even as her fame continues to rise, she holds strong to a religious, value-based life, influenced early on by her parents. Aishwarya was a good student, who had aspirations to continue her studies after graduation. Aishwarya's life would change, however, after she decided to enter a beauty contest at the age of 17.

Brains and Beauty

Aisywarya Rai had once considered entering the medical field, before choosing architecture. Her intelligence and academic abilities were matched by her beauty, though, and Aishwarya decided to enter the Ford Supermodel Contest in 1991. At only 17 years old, Aishwarya won the Ford Supermodel Contest and began her career in modeling.

In 1994, Aishwarya entered the Miss. World beauty contest and won. Aishwarya was now seen as a beauty by the world. Her striking dark hair and blue-green eyes, gave her a look that led to more publicity and modeling opportunities. In India, Aishwarya's appearance in a country wide Pepsi advertisement spread her fame throughout India, and later Asia.

Bollywood

Modeling and winning the prestigious title of Miss. World 1994, led to more opportunities for Aishwarya. Bollywood was Aishwarya Rai's next step, and she began acting in a series of Bollywood films, with the most noted films, starting in 2000. In 2000, Aishwarya Rai acted in the film Mohabbetein. Earlier in her acting career, Aishwarya received an award from India's Screen Best Female Newcomer, in 1997. Aishwarya continued her acting career, while she continued modeling occasionally. Eventually, Aishwarya was given the nickname, "Queen of Bollywood." In 2007, the film, Guru(2007) premiered in Toronto, Canada, giving Aishwarya international recognition.

Aishwarya's Future Plans

The future looks bright for the most beautiful woman in the world. Aishwarya Rai's work may not be known as well by those unfamiliar with Bollywood films, but her face is recognized by millions. Her beauty is so well-recognized that Aishwarya was named the "Most Beautiful Miss. World" of all time, in 2000. Her film, Provoked (2007) has taken Aishwarya's acting talents to the next level, as she plays a woman who was physically abused by her husband, who later killed him. Aishwarya is expected to be married soon, to Abhishek Bachchan, who will no doubt have the "Most Beautiful Wife in the World."
