The small cute and lovable Bomberman of the past is no more! Make way as the franchise gets a makeover. When I was a kid I loved this little guy and the lighthearted feel of the games, and was excited when this title came to the Xbox 360. The new look of the famed character was great, battle hardened and tough, in a new post apocalyptic world. I though to myself how great it was going to be for this tired old game to get a makeover and with Xbox live what could go wrong? .... Everything!

The Graphics are ok on this game but I don't think they use the entire potential of the 360. The levels are very simple in design, if you have played any of the old school games then you already have an idea of what to expect. While the characters look great, the levels are boring and uninteresting. You'll be looking at box after box and steel wall after steel wall for hours. The good improvement though is the addition of a female character. So you can be a big scary Bomberman or a big scary female Bomberwoman.

Game play is repetitive and slow. You have to face off against computer opponents in 100+ levels, and get this, there's no save option! I have a life... do you!? I refuse to sit and play through hours upon hours of mindless puzzles and bomb laying.

Now, I thought, it can't get worse can it? Yep... it can. I was ready to play the multiplayer feature, so my friend and I got the 360 revved up and low and behold a problem emerged. I can play online through Microsoft's Xbox live, but can't play against the guy next to me. Are you disgusted yet? Well it gets even worse; you can spend a good chunk of time trying to find an opponent over Xbox live. My buddy had time to go home, hook up his system and join the game I was in before anyone else did. The online play is just as bad as the rest of the game, lagging connections, no support, and overall un-enjoyable.

For the ridiculously high price between 40 and 50$ I would not even get within ten yards of this game. The graphics were average, the game play was horrible and multiplayer was garbage! If you insist on trying this game out for yourself, be prepared to cry, long and hard. Please for the love of Humanity don't play Bomberman, avoid it like the plague and tell everyone you know. Friends don't let friends play Bomberman for the Xbox 360.

I read a review from IGN.com that pretty much said the same thing. It looks this Bomberman game is a bust. Honestly, I have to wonder just how much more "improvements" they can make to the Bomberman series. Personally, I feel that the series should have been put to rest after the Playstion/N64 era...but then again, I'm not a huge Bomberman fan. Even so, I do love me some Bomberman Hero on my N64!
