Bonds Unable to Find New Home

The Major League Baseball Player's Association has announced that they are looking into the reason why the league's 7 time MVP Barry Bonds hasn't been signed yet and for possible collusion against the all time home run king.

Bonds led the league in walks while hitting 28 homeruns in 126 games last year. He filed for free agency October 29th of last year and still hasn't found a team willing to sign him.

According to his web site, Bonds claims he is in great shape. There has been some rumors that he would like to play for the New York Yankees, but the idea doesn't seem likely due to the fact that the Yankees are dealing with their own problems with pitcher Andy Petite, who is returning this season after admitting he took HGH. The Los Angeles Angels, the Tampa Rays, and the St. Louis Cardinals are among the teams most likely to sign the 43 year old.

Last November, Bonds was indicted on four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice. The indictment is a result of Bonds' testimony before a grand jury in 2003. He stated he did not knowingly use illegal performance enhancing drugs. His trainer, Greg Anderson, was charged with illegally supplying anabolic steroids to athletes, which led to speculation that Bonds lied to the grand jury.

The BALCO incident is not the only reason teams are reluctant to sign the man who needs just 65 hits to reach 3,000 in his career. Interested teams will look at the enormous amount of press that follows Bonds wherever he goes, Bonds' history of being a dislikeable teammate, and his salary request of 10 million dollars or more before seriously pursuing to sign him.
