Bone Marrow Drive for Kyle Dean Smith- Round 2

Sabne Raznik
The bone marrow drive held to benefit Kyle Dean Smith of Elkhorn City, Ky. was a great success today. Approximately 90 tests were taken and each one has the potential of proving to be a match for this 10-year-old boy with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The townspeople remain hopeful that somewhere in that mountain of tests is their beloved boy's lifesaver.

In order to give Smith the greatest chance possible, Counselman Mike Taylor has announced his intention to hold another bone marrow drive to benefit this boy at Elkhorn City Elementary School on January 31, 2009 from 12 noon to 3 p.m.

Response throughout the county (and the world) has been so phenomenal in support of Smith and the more who are tested the more likely the chances of finding a match for Smith. Taylor encourages any and all who could not take part in today's drive to come next Saturday and help to save Smith's life.

Efforts are being made to spread the word in every way possible- online, through email, the posting and passing out of flyers and signs, and word of mouth. The local television company did not keep their promise to carry the story today, but Mike Taylor continues to try to enlist their support. Among those who have helped to get the word out include radio stations accross the state and newspapers.

"You could be the one to save this child's life." The family pleads. If you cannot donate your bone marrow, for health or other reasons, donate a few pennies to help defer the costs of transporting the one who will match to Cincinnati, OH and other costs of Smith's care. You can do so by contacting Mike Taylor- who is acting on behalf of Kyle Smith's family- at home 606 - 754 - 4876 or at work 606 - 754 - 9626.

What if Kyle Dean Smith were your son?
