With this big announcement, what does this mean for 'Bones'? As a part of the story line in the fourth season, Deschanel's character at one time wanted to have a child with her partner FBI Special Agent Sealy Booth (David Boreanaz). At first, Booth says "yes" but after careful consideration, changes his mind because he wants to have a hand at raising his child. Later, Booth finds out he has a benign brain tumor and the subject has not come back up again.
In the middle of their relationship, which is finally on the right track for Booth and Brennan to be together, what does this real life pregnancy mean? Will it be written into the story line or be covered up like so many actresses have done in other television series'?
I have a strong feeling that 'Bones' fans, if they had their way, would want the impending birth to be a part of the story line. With Deschanel being newly pregnant, that would put the birth of her child in late December to early February, making it certainly viable for the writers to work the pregnancy into the script. The scoop is that there is another proposal set to occur before the end of this season. However, as much as we want that proposal to be Booth and Brennan, it probably will not happen that way.
Currently, co-star Michaela Conlin (Angela Montenegro) is pregnant on the show, but is not pregnant in real life and does not have any children. On set, she wears a latex stomach about 15 hours a day. On 'Bones', Montenegro is married to Dr. Jack Hodgins (T.J. Thyne).
At this point, only speculations are floating around as to how front man Hart Hanson will fit this fabulous news into 'Bones' or if he will at all. I am sure Hanson's inbox and Twitter feed will be filled with suggestions on how he can work Deschanel's pregnancy into the story line. Whether or not Hanson takes the fan's advice is yet to be seen.
