Bong Spirit Vodka: A Designer Spirit Beverage

Promoting the Arts Through Premium Alcohol

Kathy Browning
I was introduced to Bong Spirit vodka when a friend gave me a bottle as a gift. The bottle was exquisite with a circular bulb at the bottom. The underside was coated in a bright turquoise green that illuminated the round portion. The rest of the bottle consisted of a clear glass long neck and large screw-on lid with a silver band inserted between layers of acrylic plastic.

The Bong Spirit vodka bottle looked like a piece of art. In fact, it was so pretty I didn't want to break the seal. In the back of my mind I was thinking this vodka bottle is so unique it could become a collector item someday. Instead of thinking about enjoying the libations, I was visualizing a valuable investment.

A product card was attached to the bottle describing the 150 year old distillation process and superior craftsmanship. What most caught my interest was the statement of, "Bong Spirit Vodka is a designer spirit beverage envisioned by a group of contemporary artists." I had to learn more!

Bong Spirit Vodka Distillation

According to the Bong Spirit website, this brand of vodka undergoes an extensive distillation process. It is distilled six times, filtered four times and processed using charcoal filtration and reverse osmosis. This yields an incredibly smooth, non-burning flavor that warms the belly and tingles the toes. But, don't let that smooth taste fool you. Bong Spirit is made from pure grain alcohol and is 80-proof and 40-percent alcohol by volume. In other words, a little goes a long way.

Bong Spirit Vodka Bottles

Bong Spirit Vodka is available in several different bottles. Each is designed by an artist. The bottle I received was created by Jimi Beach; an artist residing in Orlando. Considering I'm a Floridian, I was excited to discover my Bong Spirit bottle was created by a local artist. Jimi's primary focus on art is using natural elements, nature's rhythms, and using water as art. His Bong Spirit bottle design captures the spirit of the ocean. Perfect for a beach lover like me!

Each designer's profile is published at BongSpirit.com and provides additional information and links to each artist's website. These bottles are truly a work of art and include a product you would be proud to serve guests.

Bong Spirit encourages artists to submit artwork which could eventually be featured on vodka bottles. In addition to having artwork superimposed on bottles, artists can also submit artwork for Bong Spirit packaging. The boxes are more elaborate than the bottles. I'm certain they will be worth big bucks in the future!

Artists interested in submitting artwork should review the requirements and download templates at www.SpiritOfTheBrand.com.

Other Opportunities to Get Involved with Bong Spirit Vodka

In addition to accepting bottle and packaging artwork, Bong Spirit also accepts artwork for tee shirts and music submissions. This company offers tremendous support to artists and provides resources and tools that make the process easy.

You must be 21 years of age or older to become a member of the Bong Spirit Tribe and submit artwork. Submission templates for bottles, boxes, and tee shirts, as well as how to submit MP3s, CDs, tapes or records are provided at www.SpiritOfTheBrand.com. Artwork and music submissions can be mailed to Spirit of the Brand, 635 W. Michigan Street, Orlando, FL 32805.

In closing, I'd like to share my favorite Bong Spirit Vodka French Martini recipe. This is a very potent alcoholic beverage that should be consumed in moderation. If you aren't drinking these at home, please make certain you have a designated driver or call a cab.
