I love to read. More importantly I love to read old editions that are worn and ready to fall apart. There's something romantic about having a book pass through your hands that has been read by hundred of other people (it's no surprise that I am totally anti-Kindle). So you'll forgive me when I say that I wish the big bookstore would got the way of the Tara Reid's career and just disappeared (ZING!).

So I've always got my eye out for homegrown bookstores devoid of that commercialism and big-box feel. Yeah the Strand is nice, but it still lacks some... thing.

That thing I found is at Unnameable Books in Prospect Heights on Vanderbilt Avenue. It's a tiny little nook tucked into a humble store façade, but once inside, the selection is anything but.

They have enough used books to bulge your eyes out and you are more than likely to find that rare edition of the book you've been looking for. I went in their looking for a specific edition of John Kennedy Toole's A Confederacy of Dunces and I found it! I had to spend a decent amount (as you will with most rare editions) but my collection is starting to look more complete!

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they'll gladly help you find something through the massive amount of books. I only had a few dollars on me so I couldn't stock up, but you can be sure I'll bring enough to break the bank next time I am in the market for new (used) books.
