Older books should also be purchased in the best condition that the collector can find and afford as they are the most desirable.

Shop Online

Online sellers also have to compete with each other which helps to lower price. Collectors looking for even the most obscure books should be able to find them listed for sale online.

Shop Locally

Shopping locally for collectible books also has a number of advantages for collectors. Books sold locally can be more carefully examined and book store owners and staff can assist personally assist collectors in choosing books to purchase.

Storage

Books are not that difficult to store. A climate controlled area for storing books away from very moist or very dry environments, extreme temperatures, and direct sunlight can easily be found in many homes. Books should also be stored away from odors as the books can absorb the odor. Cardboard boxes that are specially made for archival storage of books and similar items are an inexpensive investment that can help to protect rare books.
