I love books. The smell of the pages, a good story, and a book that takes me into it and away from the daily realities, are the reason I read. This is a list of five of my favorite books. Each is a favorite for different reasons. Books and reading have been a major part of my life since I was just a small child. I'm grateful for that.
For One More Day- Mitch AlbomThis book is touching and serves to remind us all just how fleeting life can be. It helped me to tell the people I love how much they mean to me. It can help you too and it is not a long book, in case you prefer shorter stories that are just as engaging as the long ones.
How to Win Friends and Influence People- Dale Carnegie
I read this book many years ago and then re-read it recently. Mr. Carnegie published this book back in 1937 and it has sold over 15 million copies. It is filled with simple ideas and tips on how to get along better in the world, especially the business world. If you are like many Americans, you may be looking for a job and want to know how you can put your best foot forward. How to Win Friends and Influence People can help you with that.
This is actually my favorite book--though it is well over 700 pages. If you want to get to know President Lincoln much better and learn why he chose to make his rivals his Presidential cabinet, read this book. It is brilliantly written and was hard to put down. It gripped me and taught me history I never knew. It gave me a new found respect for one of the most influential and overburdened President's America has ever had.
Yes another history book! It is a terrific but not overly long read about George Washington and what he did for our new country in 1776. It is inspiring and insightful. If you enjoy history and you feel like you did not learn enough about American history in school, check out this book.
This is a story of five generations of the same family. The book was written in 1967 and is fictional. It was such a wise and impressive read that it made me wish I could write a book even half as good as this one. It's about 450 pages long and it's not a light read, but it is worth it. Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a Nobel Prize winning author from Colombia.
If you have read these books or choose to do because of this article, let me know what you think of the books! No matter what you read, just read.

Post a CommentGood job, and thanks for your comments!!
Back to check out your list. I, too, love reading and am partial to non-fiction. Not such a history buff as you are, but your selections sound excellent. rcj
Well Radell--I'm not a huge fan of cop books lol Lived it, so don't need to read about it! I love E-books on my Nook, but these are my top 5:-) As for AC, pv's dropped so much that it just doesn't seem worth the effort anymore. I'm not 100 percent gone, only 90 percent.
I don't see any ebooks on this list, Sherri. And where's the cop books, eh? lol
Come to think of it, where's a recent article on here from you? Has AC lost ya?
I think the book about Lincoln sounds fascinating - he was such a great leader for our country. rcj
If you are smelling the pages, you're not reading them on Kindle. Me neither. I loved "1776" and bought the book, appropriately, in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania.
good choices, I would have other choices of course lol
Thanks Sherri!
Great article and well written good job Laura Everly
