Book Review: Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Mauvekat
Acheron is the 12th book in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. It is the longest of her books so far and has been highly anticipated since early in the Dark Hunter series.

Honestly, I was on the list eagerly awaiting this book along with all the other Dark Hunter fans around the world and I can say I was not disappointed in any way, shape or form. It was the origin story of Acheron, a hero of the Dark Hunter series. He was introduced early in the series, book s "Night Pleasures" as the leader of the Dark Hunters. Acheron, we have found out through reading the series and confirmed in this book is an Atlantean God the son of Apollymi and Archon, leaders of the pantheon. He was placed in the womb of a pregnant Queen of a Greek city-state of Didymos and born shortly before his brother Styxx. Acheron was raised in the household between Greece and Atlantis as nothing better than a slave. Only comforted by his sister Ryssa, which if you have been reading the series for the entire time recognize her quickly as the woman that is killed by the Atlanteans in jealousy which Apollo cursed his Altantean children becoming the Daimons and Apollites. We get to travel Acheron's path through his childhood and early adulthood which is vibrant and even painful at times but I felt the pain, the joy and everything else on this early journey of Acheron.

Once the first half of the book finished we finished off the early parts of Acheron's story to move on to the present day. The second half of the book introduces the new love of Acheron, which I would not want to give away for those who have not read the book. The romance story worked well and was quite interesting. I loved the story and it was worth the wait. It is another great story to go with the rest of the series untilt he next book comes out this fall.
