Book Review: Appearances - the Art of Class

G. Keith Evans
Appearances is the type of book one might pick up before a professional interview, public appearance or speaking engagement. Brimming with finely detailed recommendations on how to improve social perceptions, Appearances approaches class from a perspective which could only be instilled by a fine Southern heritage.

The author tends to be wordy, at times using a sesquipedalian method to convey the importance of a large vocabulary. In this manner, the book begins the process of individual refinement before the reader even reaches the second chapter.

Rarely straying from topic, transitions in this book are smooth and easily lead to a feeling more of a casual conversation than of a published work.

Even though some readers may need a dictionary to finish the work, Appearances squarely serves its intended purpose. If you're looking for a way to improve your social sophistication, Appearances is the place to start.
