One of the reasons Darcy did not return was that she had never felt love from her Parents, they were strict and sometimes cruel, and an adult, who was jealous of her Told a lie and her, and she decided to live up to that lie and be the wild child everyone Thought her to be. One part in the story was a very good lesson to learn. Once she returns home, she is Approached about becoming a teacher's aide. The woman, a former teacher told her That she did try to help her in the past, and get her on the right track, but she wouldn't Listen and kept ignoring her. Darcy was afraid that she would be judgmental and Cruel like the other people.
It's important, no matter how hard we are hurting to Try to reach out to someone, or accept someone's hand if they reach out to you. Luke and his aunt are always telling her how good God is, and how he's always there
But Darcy finds it hard to believe because of how her life was, and how the most of The people in her home town still are. This was a good story in that it tells how people-Christians, gossip and how they can Hurt other people. It also deals with unplanned pregnancy, and how people can change. The romance in the story was well done.
When a near tragedy occurs, Darcy rejects Luke's love, and hurts him deeply. She 'made a deal' with God and also feels like her past, having an illegitimate child, Would make Luke love her less.
This book is a message to those who could be in the same situation. Your life can Be better. You can find someone who will love you for who you are, not what You have done in the past. This is definitely worth reading.
