When You Dare offers readers some fantastic characters. Molly is a successful, confident woman that is not unattractive. She is not the drop dead gorgeous girl found in some novels, nor is she a plain Jane. She is simply attractive in her own right, and I love the fact that Dare finds her attractive for her personality and intelligence as well as her physical self from the very beginning. Dare is a solid character, but there were moments in the suspense aspect of the story that I wanted to kick him, because I had already figured out the who-done-it and thought he ought to be asking certain questions a lot sooner than he does. However, his personality is one of my favorite kinds of heroes. The sensitive alpha male; he can cook, is a clean freak, thinks about other people and how his actions might affect them. Dare's two dogs are "his girls" whom he treats extremely well and become characters with in the story. Secondary characters Chris, Trace, and Alani are well written and make me eager to read the next books in the series.
I recommend When You Dare to fans of romantic suspense, contemporary romance and Lori Foster. The characters are engaging and it is a great start to a new series. There are some seriously hot scenes, but none at moments that might label the characters as too dumb to live. This is great book for a night in or a lazy weekend in the sun.
