This poetic look into what happens beyond life and past our death, brings more meaning into the lives we live and how important every person you meet can be.
The Five People You Meet in Heaven had me riveted from the very first page. This book, by Mitch Albom, author of Tuesdays with Morrie, is a fantastic journey through one beautiful version of what happens after you die.
The main character, Eddie, is a wonderful type of character that reminds all of us of someone who know. He is a maintenance person at Ruby Pier, an amusement park, where he has been for more years than he can remember.
Eddie dies in a tragic accident early on in the book, and then we are taken on a trip through his perception of heaven, as he finds meaning for the events in his life and a better purpose for his actions.
The five people he meets are all from interactions in his life, though a couple of them are not an obvious character from his life, they are very important indeed. He meets then in a chronological order of things that he had experienced.
Eddie finds surprising things out about him self, as he tries to find peace from some of the events that have haunted him and he finds new meaning in some of the most important pieces of his journey through life.
All the while, through this journey that was his life, he is searching for the answers about the events surrounding his death. Was he the hero he always hoped to be or de he fail yet again?
We all look for meaning into the mistakes we make along the way and the events in our lives that we are unable to control. While, this book offers a vision of heaven and the afterlife, it stays uncomplicatedly separated from religion.
This book is an enchanting way to the answers that we all desire and a universal belief in the importance of the after-life and the life we live here on Earth. I know that after just a few pages into this story, you will love it as much as I do.
