Book Review: The Harbinger by Jonathan Cahn

Surfing the Internet a few weeks ago, I tuned into Sid Roth's online broadcast called, It's Supernatural. I'm not a faithful viewer, but I've seen the program before. The broadcast interviewer, Sid Roth is a Messianic Jew that provides a platform for different Christian leaders to share their latest books or sermons with a larger audience. Mr. Roth's show focuses on supernatural events like angelic visits and prophecy. This particular program, I watched spellbound as a rabbi, Jonathan Cahn began to share the details of his book, The Harbinger.

During the interview, the rabbit began to explain the nine harbingers or signs he uncovered in the Bible, namely in the book of Isaiah, that reveals what he believes happened in America on 9/11. I'll admit I was intrigued as a Christian believer and American. After watching the interview, I grabbed my Nook and downloaded the book. I have to say the book was even better!

Unlike the interview, The Harbinger tells the story of these nine harbingers like an adventure and intrigue tale. In the story, the rabbi meets a modern day prophet who reveals each harbinger and explains their significance. Some of the harbingers were the destruction of the sycamore tree at Ground Zero and the significance of the location. I had no idea that George Washington had prayed for our nation, consecrating it to God on the very spot!

The book was a page turner and I couldn't wait to finish it. The author doesn't make predictions for the future, instead, he leads the reader to the scriptures detailing the destruction of ancient Israel, comparing it to modern America. It's a moving, frightening tale but for people of faith, one that answers many questions.

I found The Harbinger to be an excellent read. I sent my father a copy and have recommended it to my friends. If you like inspirational books or study prophecy, this book is for you. This isn't a book for atheists or non-believers, although the way it is written does have some entertainment value. You can buy a copy of this book at Amazon or at the official website.
