Book Review of Ignite: The 12 Values that Fuel Billionaire Success by David Kim
A Different Kind of Business Book that Speaks to Core Heart Issues Necessary for Success
I was skeptical because I've been turned off by a lot of books and other materials I've read on this same topic. You know, the books that promise overnight riches with little work, and that make you feel like you're dealing with a real sleaze ball. Since I have no interest in doing business in less than honorable ways, I've had no interest in learning from those whose values are not in line with my own.
The values found within "Ignite: The 12 Values that Fuel Billionaire Success," are what set the book apart from other business books and are what make the book worth picking up. The values speak to the core of who I am and made me clearly examine my own heart, motives and practices.
Out of the 12 values presented, the ones that personally impacted me the most included:
*Give Generously
(Generosity Should Precede Riches, Not the Other Way Around)
*Live Honestly
(Integrity is Currency)
*Dream Huge
(Passion is Purposeful)
*Risk Preparation and Practicing Change
(Embrace Change)
I also appreciated the emphasis on hard work and persistence and of course the final chapter which emphasizes the importance of faith in and dependence on God.
It is not often that a book on business speaks to my heart, but this one most certainly does. In fact, that is why I would recommend it. As David Kim writes in the afterward, "Can I guarantee that if you do those things that you'll join the ranks of the world's 1,011 billionaires?" No. But what I can promise you is that living out these 12 values will help you achieve more success - both personally and professionally - than you ever dreamed possible. Best of all, you'll come to realize that money is not the true measure of worth. Serving others is."
If you're looking for easy and sneaky ways to make it rich, skip this book. But if you're looking for a book that will challenge you to be a better person and operate your business and life in ways that you can be proud of, then I'd recommend picking up a copy of "Ignite: The 12 Values that Fuel Billionaire Success" by David Kim.
