Book Review: A Thriller called Nightwalker by Heather Graham
The story takes place in Las Vegas around gambling casinos. There is a twist to the story which I won't tell you about, but you have probably never thought of or read this kind of twist in any other thriller book. Let's just say Heather Graham has quite an imagination that turns this thriller into a fun and somewhat scary read. Nightwalker is the perfect thriller book for me. This is a book I can read before going to bed without disrupting my sleep.
Here is a spoiler alert. Don't read the next three paragraphs if you don't want to know some of the plot of Nightwalker. With Las Vegas at the center of the story, there is a variety of characters. Additionally, there is some Lakota Sioux Native American lore, a touch of paranormal and a love interest along with enough Las Vegas shenanigans to keep you reading.
When asked what spurred her to write about Las Vegas and ghosts, Heather Graham said, "To be honest, what sparked my desire in Nightwaker was an intense desire to have a ghost who would fix the dice for you at a craps table." And the story takes off from this desire.
Some murders take place in Nightwalker along with plenty of mystery to keep you guessing. I found myself cheering for the heroine and at other times telling her, "Don't do it." The sweetest part of Nightwalker were scenes with the heroine and her elderly father who lives in a nursing home. Another interesting theme in the book is a connection between the past and present which must be resolved. I don't want to give away any more of the story but it is a fun read.
The book is a page turner and can be read in one or two sittings. The action is fast and never boring. There was only one time I knew something was going to happen but I sure didn't guess correctly. Nightwalker is a great Heather Graham thriller book to take on a holiday because it is pure entertainment.
If you enjoyed the review of the thriller, Nighwalker by Heather Graham, then read a book review on Sophie Kinsella's, The Undomestic Goddess by this author.
