Book Review: The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

P. B. Chase
This is a book that I believe anyone and everyone should read. I truly believe this book can and will change your life. If you read it with an open heart, I don't see how it can help but change you. It is written as a guide to spiritual enlightenment. It is not a book about any one religion nor does it eliminate any religion that at its' core seeks the truth in God and our higher purpose.

The Power of Now - The Power to Change

The definition of transmute: to change from one nature, species, form or substance into another

Transmute, this is the essence of what this book is about. To transmute, in this case to change from the unconscious to the conscious. To become aware of your true being is to transmute the false identity of the mind. To live in the present, in the now, is to transmute from time to timeless.

Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

This book is a guide to show us how to live in present, in the now and how we can change from the conscious to the conscious in that moment. All that is false and that normally veils us from our true identity can fall away in that moment. He guides us to live in the moment, listen to the silence, be aware of the space within and not the clutter, still the noise of your mind and feel the life force inside you and inside all living things.... The joy we desire is already within us if we just learn to give it our undivided attention. If we live in the "Now" we learn to see what life "is" and what it is not. We will recognize our true being and not identify with the noise and confusion of the mind, but will know the quiet place inside each of us that is connected to all that is true and eternal. This is where all answers to everyday life lies, it is the source of all creativity, all joy, all love, all healing and all else that we seek. Time is not the solution to anything; all solutions already exist in the present. Time is a lie of the mind that keeps us from the truth; timelessness is the presence of the moment in which all truth lies.

Eckhart Tolle

I am grateful to have found this book and for the message and the messenger it was sent through. Eckhart Tolle in this writing has a voice that if heard will affect real change in the lives of those who hear.

Since reading this book and writing this article I have seen how putting into practice this "Now Power" my life has truly changed. I am letting go of thoughts and attitudes that use to hold me back and hold me down. When we are thinking negative and repetitve thoughts our minds truly start to be our own worst enemy. It seems easier to just defend our negative position, but in reality it is such a relief to learn to let it go. I am thankful for this book and the message it tells and I hope maybe you will give it a try. The book will be different for each person who reads it, as we are each in different places as we read it, but I believe it has the power to meet each person on their own path.
