Book Review: Slam by Nick Hornby

Danielle Underwood
"Slam" is a very moving read for anybody. It's a fictional story about a 16 year old skater who lives with his single mum. His life seems to be looking up after he's met Alicia. Then an unexpected accident happens with consequences that cause troubles in both their lives.

Nick Hornby is very good at showing emotion through this book. I found "Slam" very realistic and it made me feel as if I were there watching it all happen. I think that the way that the author has wrote the book is very clever as at certain points, Sam goes forward into the future and then back to present again.

I would certainly recommend "Slam", but I think it's more suitable for teenagers/adults. It's written through the eyes of a 16 year old boy, so I think it would be a good read for someone around that age, even though considering I am 2 years younger, and a girl, it still really got through to me and was an excellent read.

Ultimately, I think that "Slam" is an amazing book in every way and there is nothing that I can think of to criticise it! So why don't you all go out, buy it and enjoy!
