Book Review: ZOMBIE MOVIES: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE by Glenn Kay

The Best Guide for Everything Zombie Related!

Kevin L. Powers
If you are a zombie film fan and wanted to know about all the zombie films ever made than Glenn Kay's exhaustive book Zombie Movies: The Ultimate Guide is everything you wanted to know about the genre and more. Kay's book is one of the easiest books to navigate through with chapters on each decade starting from the '30s and going up until present day. Each chapter lists both the major and minor zombie films released and even comments on foreign films as well as digital video and straight to DVD and cable films.

A highlight of the book (in addition to all the great incites on various zombie films) are the numerous interviews with people associated with the genre from make-up artists (Tom Savini and Gaslight Studios), actors (Jennifer Baxter & John Migliore), and directors (Andrew Currie), among others. Kay also provides a brief overview of each decade (although I wish they had been longer in some cases) and numerous pictures of posters, lobby cards, and memorabilia of the films from all over the world. The book is a great collection of zombie film memorabilia and it gave me incite on many films I had never heard of as well as films that I've only read about.

A highlight is Kay's account as a zombie on the set of George A. Romero's Land of the Dead as well as his pictures of the best zombie films of all time. This book is a must have for a;; zombie fans and you won't be disappointed.
