Got a dog lover who likes to read on your holiday list? Here is your scoop on some interesting, humorous, and/or fun books for dog lovers. Books make a great gift for anyone on your list. Although this guide is geared toward dog lovers if you know the hobbies of the loved ones on your list you can find a book for anyone. Great places to shop for books are Barnes and Noble, Half Price Books, or Target. Prefer online shopping for books? Try Amazon.com or Half.com.

Humorous Books:
Doga: Yoga For Dogs by Jennifer Brilliant and William Berloni. Doga: Yoga For Dogs is a hilarious book that pokes fun at yoga. Doga takes traditional yoga poses such as downward dog and teaches you how to have your dog do the pose. The book is illustrated which adds to the humor. Doga is of course for humor only, do not attempt Doga with your dog. Anyone who enjoys yoga will enjoy exploring Doga. Doga makes a great coffee table book as it will be a fun ice breaker.

Portrait Books:
Cat Spelled Backwards Doesn't Spell Dog: Portraits of Divine Dogs by Jeff Selis. Coffee table books make great gifts and this book is no different. Cat Spelled Backwards Doesn't Spell Dog has amazing pictures, lots of outdoor photos, and some totally irrestible portraits. I enjoy looking through my copy when I have had a chaotic day and need some rest and relaxation.

Never Bite When A Growl Will Do by Michael Nastasi. Another great coffee table book. Michael Nastasi is an awesome photographer. His photos in Never Bite when A Growl Will Do are wonderful. Every photo will make you smile and say aweee. I have given away three copies of this book to friends because they ohhh'd and awe'd over the portraits so much that I just had to let them have the book!

Pampered Dogs:
Dog Parties: Entertaining Your Party Animals by Kimberly Schlegel Whitman. Dog birthday parties are a growing trend. As dogs become more and more a part of the family they also become more pampered and spoiled. Kimberly Schlegel Whitman's book has some great tips and ideas for dog parties. A few of the ideas were why out of my budget but I enjoyed the ideas and can't wait to spoil my puppy on her birthday. I even used a few of the ideas for my son's golden birthday party.

Pampering You Pooch: Discover What Your Dog Needs, Wants, and Loves Jason R. Rich. Pampering Your Pooch comes with a dog bandana that says Pampered Pooch. The bandana is small so be sure to replace the bandana with a bigger size if your gift receiver has a larger dog. I was throughly intrigued by Pampering Your Pooch. I was utterly amazed by some of the cool, if overly priced items you can purchase to pamper your dog. One of the most outrageous items is a handmade, one-of-a-kind collar that costs upwards of $2,500! There are lots of great web sites listed within the book so the gift receiver will be sure to find any of the items they read about and just have to have!

Cookbooks:
The Ultimate Dog Treat Cookbook by Liz Palika. I bought my copy of The Ultimate Treat Cookbook a few years ago when I had a Jack Russell who had a lot of allergies and because of a previous owner had some medical problems. Since I couldn't trust the treats from stores I needed a recipe book that had dog treat recipes that were easy to follow with a minimum of ingredients. I looked at a few other dog treat cookbooks but I found the recipes in the Ultimate Dog Treat Cookbook to be more interesting. I have made more than ten recipes from this cookbook over the years and they all have been easy to make and loved by the dogs. Every year for Christmas I try a new recipe from the Ultimate Dog Treat Cookbook then I find a fun and inexpensive tin to put the treats into and that is how I hand them out. My son volunteers at a kennel club so we have lots of dogs that require gifts.
