Dymocks Books - This large chain has a main location at 424-30 George Street. It also has other branches within the city, and of course the country. It is an impressive sized bookshop with a range of titles on any possible topic you could imagine.
Gleebooks - This award-winning shop is located at 49 Glebe Point Rd, Glebe. It is a popular favourite as they have won numerous 'bookshop of the year awards' and have various titles to choose from. You can also browse through their second hand collection at 191 Glebe Point Rd.
Goulds - This bookshop is located at 33 King Street, Newtown. It is a Second Hand Bookstore, and a popular option for budget travellers and backpackers. It also has a large variety of titles, and is open until Midnight daily.
Desire Books - Located at 3/3 Whistler St, Manly is a modest size bookstore with a range of new and used books.
Bookshops in Melbourne
Borders - This is a common chain found around Australia with a popular Melbourne location at 500 Chapel St, South Yarra. They have a large and impressive variety of titles to choose from and are usually open relatively late. It is comparable to Chapters.
Readings - Another favourite with a location at 309 Lygon St. They have a wonderful selection of popular books, new or not. They also offer DVD's, and CD's.
Angus & Robertson - This is another popular chain seen within Australia. They have a popular Melbourne Store located at 360 Bourke Street.
Collins Booksellers - This is another chain with various titles. One of their more popular branches within the city can be found at 104 Elizabeth Street.
Map Land - This travel shop is located at 372 Little Bourke St. They boast a large assortment of guidebooks, maps, and basically anything travel related.
Hares & Hyenas - This bookshop is located at 135 Commercial Rd, Prahran. It is a popular gay and lesbian bookshop with a nice assortment of books and titles.
