What is Offered
Let's start with the basics. There are books and DVDs and whatnot, but that's what one would expect. What catches the attention of the first-time visitor is the amount of books to be found in this little shop, which is tucked into the corner of the shopping center. There are all genres of books, including a section dedicated to local authors, which is ever-growing. Whether your fancy is a current thriller or vampire saga, science fiction, or just a little romance, you are sure to find something to suit you. There is also a well-stocked children's section, complete with a reading area for the little ones.
How it Works
The price, which can usually be found on the inside of the front cover, is generally half the cover price for the paperbacks; the hardcover books are subject to some other reasonable pricing guideline. For those interested in bringing books in, Boomerang Books will complete a card and start an account. Paperbacks are credited into the account in the amount of ΒΌ the cover price. Hardcover books are calculated differently, but reasonably, and that amount is credited to the account. When checking out, all one has to do is give the name on the account, and up to half the amount of the purchase can be made by the credit in the account. At the register, there are even books that are free for the taking.
Special Events
There are a variety of special events occurring in the book store from time to time. The local authors, who are shelved in the store, frequently provide book signings; on occasion multiple authors will sign at once. In addition to book signings, there are other special events, such as, tarot card readings, classes, live music, and special sales.
For whatever your taste in books, Boomerang Books is sure to deliver. There are other book stores in and around League City, offering discounted or half-priced books, but one would be well-served to check into this hidden treasure.
