Boost Your Sagging Views with Don Pennington

Kylyssa Shay
Finally, I did the infamous Donald Pennington interview to try to give my sagging views a boost. I must say the process was pain-free, for the most part, aside from the brutally honest soul-searching required to answer his questions.

It's amazing what an introduction will do. It's a courtesy we've almost lost with the interpersonal detachment so often found on the worldwide web. Donald Pennington has brought that minor courtesy of introduction back to the table and it's easy to see the ripples it makes. A kindness such as this takes so little effort yet produces a large result. I don't mean the increased views, the new fans, or sudden fame - I mean the way these actions create chain reactions causing people to help and support each other and to enjoy doing it. The increased views, the new fans, and the sudden fame are pretty damned sweet, too.

So what has the Donald Pennington interview done for me? Well, in the past several days since Don first published Meet Kylyssa I've gained eight new fans (and lost one, but, hey, that's not Don's fault) and a few thousand extra views. But more than that, I've been motivated and cheered up. You forget how nice a little recognition feels until you find yourself getting some again - recognition, that is, though it's always nice to get some, too.

The actual interview is as low pressure as it gets. I really like that Don has made the process more of a gentle invitation by way of a few revealing questions rather than a grilling. I probably wouldn't have completed the interview if I hadn't been able to take a look at the questions and really think about my answers. The questions seemed a little generic to me at first but I decided to really open myself up to giving some honest answers. I really like the result.

I feel like anyone who reads the interview would know me as well as if they'd shared a game of Scrabble and a cup of tea with me, well, except they wouldn't know that I kick ass at Scrabble and use too much honey in my tea. And after that, well, of course we'd be friends, or maybe, if they're extremely competitive about Scrabble, perhaps mortal enemies - but at least I'd have left an impression.

I think that any Associated Content writer who doesn't choose to get exposed by Donald Pennington is doing himself (or herself) a disservice.

He interviewed me too awhile back. I emailed him that I wishes I'd given better answers.
