The First One to follow: It is important to become acclimated with your new school by walking around the campus and perhaps following a campus tour guide. If you become familiar with where everything is and get a head start to avoid being late to classes on the first day, you will become more comfortable.
The Second One to follow: It would benefit you to learn how to study. College is much more difficult than school at the lower levels. Besides, if you learn how to study very well, you will be on your way to comprehending your material.
The Third One to follow: You need to be sociable and get busy meeting others and making friends. Having a strong social network can help take your mind off your troubles and do wonders for your self-esteem.
The Fourth One to follow: It would be in your best interests to visit the math and writing labs on the campus, especially if you have any trouble in your math or writing courses. Constantly going to the math lab gave me the tools and confidence I needed to get through college algebra.
The Fifth One to follow: It is vital to talk with your professors. The first thing you must do is ask them questions in class. The second is discuss what you do not understand with them after class or during their scheduled office hours. Doing these things can go a long way toward helping you avoid losing hope or giving up.
The Sixth One to follow: It is wise to chat with your fellow students. You should ask them what is expected of you and how you can excel. It is natural to be more at ease when you seek help from those who have a lot of experience.
The Seventh One to follow: It is imperative to believe in yourself and have the feeling you belong. You can tell yourself, "I conquered high school easily and I am intelligent; therefore, I can succeed in getting my degree."
