Easy and Economical Ways to Build Fitness

In today's hectic world, you probably don't have extra time to spend at the gym or extra money to spend for home exercise equipment. However, you don't have to have an expensive gym membership or spend long hours on a weight bench to get fit and lose weight. Just a few lifestyle changes can raise your metabolism and make a measurable impact on your fitness level.

In the long run, the little things you do on a daily basis will become habit and will count for more than an occasional weekend hike. You'll also be less likely to skip a two minute exercise in your daily routine than an hour at the gym. Moreover, some experts believe that frequent short bursts of activity help to keep the metabolism purring better than one long workout.

Everyone knows the tips of parking a block away and taking the stairs but a few more activities worked into your day can add up to some nice health benefits.

An early burst of exercise can boost metabolism levels for the entire day. Take just two minutes and do jumping jacks or run in place before you go to work.

Get in some upper body exercise while sitting at your desk by placing your hands on the chair arms and lifting yourself up a few times during the day.

Double your steps. When making a trek to the water fountain, restroom, or the boss's office, retrace your steps before carrying out the errand. This works especially well when taking the stairs.

Take a walk around the building during breaks at work. Pack extra shoes for this if you need to.

When grocery shopping, do your own carry out.

Mow your own lawn and save money while getting fit.

While talking on the phone, do toe stands, lunges, or grab a canned good and do curls.

After dinner, wrestle with the kids or take the dog for a ten minute walk.

Forget the TV remote and get up each time you want to change the channels.

Do leg lifts or curls while watching TV. Do jumping jacks or run in place during commercials.

On weekends, plan to go dancing or bike riding. It doesn't feel like a workout when it's fun!

These suggestions are easy to incorporate into a busy schedule and they won't strain the budget or the body. Over time, they can add up to a healthier you.
