Brooks and Dunn Scootin' Away for Good After One Final Tour

Country superstar duo Brooks and Dunn have come to the end of the road. The "Boot Scootin' Boogie" hitmakers, Kik Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, revealed on their official website Monday (08/10) that they've mutually agreed to hang up their guitars after their 2010 Last Rodeo tour.

"After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it's time call it a day,"

"This ride has been everything and more than we could ever have dreamed ... We owe it all to you, the fans," they stated in their post. "If you hear rumours, don't believe them, it's just time."

Brooks & Dunn have pretty much done it all on the country music scene.

The prolific pair have had more than forty singles on the country music charts which includes smash hits such as Boot Scootin' Boogie, My Maria and Ain't Nothing 'Bout You. Since entering the country music charts with their 6x platinum 1991 debut release Brand New Man, they've racked up more than 40 singles, 10 albums, 2 greatest hits, a Christmas album, 23 No 1 singles and 22 million grossed in US sales.

Brand New Man alone produced 4 consecutive No 1 country music hit singles including: the title track, Boot Scootin' Boogie, My Next Broken Heart, and Neon Moon.

The famed singer - songwriting duo also snagged the Country Music Association's Vocal Duo of the Year award every year between 1992 and 2006 (except for 2000 when Montgomery Gentry won) and captured the Entertainer of the Year award in 1996.

Two of the duo's singles have also been named as Billboard magazine's No 1 country singles of the year: My Maria (1996) and Ain't Nothing 'Bout You (2001).

But their last CD, 2007's Cowboy Town only made it to No. 4 and failed to produce any hit singles.

There is no word yet on what Brooks & Dunn's individual plans might involve once they split up. Brian Philips, Country Music Television president says they'll likely remain in the music business in some capacity.

"The guys that I know, I can't imagine either of those two individuals walking away from music. That's unthinkable,"

Since early 2006, Kix Brooks has been hosting American Country Countdown, a nationally syndicated radio program in US.

No dates have yet to be announced for their upcoming tour.

I seen them in North Little Rock on Sept 21. I have always loved their music and couldn't believe it when I heard the news. I have many CD's. I cannot imagine country music without them. They are true country boys with true heart warming songs. The show was the greatest. I seen George Strait, Reba McEntire and Leann Womack in Memphis and their concert was by far the BEST!!! NO KIDDING!! If I had my choice between the two concerts by far I'd see Brooks&Dunn AGAIN!

I cannot imagine a world without Brook and Dunn. Ronnie Dunns voice is so pure and soulful. After one of their concerts in Dallas, our local critic made the comment, " Does Ronnie Dunn ever hit a bad note?" They will be so missed. I hope their last tour comes thru Dallas so I can see them one last time.
