Boots for Women Over 40: Easy Way to Erase Years

On a recent episode of Last Man Standing, the new TV sitcom starring Tim Allen, his wife on the show was depressed about her grandma-like style. Sure she is technically a grandma, but she understandably does not want to look like one just yet. Vanessa, played by Nancy Travis, flipped through racks in the junior department and then her teenage daughter jumped in and took mom to have feathers put in her hair. That may be one option for looking more hip, but another way to update your style less obviously is to follow the new boot trends.

Boots for women over 40

Boots are a young look. Trendy and fun, ankle boots are a quick way to erase a few years from your look. You do not have to shop in the junior section to find a pair that suits you, but feel free. Boots are a timeless look that can be adopted by young and old.

Boots can easily replace sneakers, or sensible shoes without sacrificing support. Look for a basic knee-high boot with a solid stacked heel, insoles and cushioning. Black, brown or beige boots can be paired with numerous outfits, casual to dressy. Upgrade your typical weekend outfit of jeans and a sweater, with a pair of flat knee boots, a big purse and sunglasses. Suddenly, you are no longer invisible.

Boots add class. For an instant style upgrade, slip on a pair of elegant boots. The heel may not be for everyone, but then again it may be just the boost your wardrobe needs. When boots fit properly, they are often more stable than pumps since your ankle is kept solidly in place which helps stabilize your center of gravity.

Boots last. Purchase high-quality boots and you can rotate them for several years. Styles change, but boots are a classic basic. Riding boots, cowgirl boots, over the knee leather boots and even ankle booties can continue to be pulled out year after year, season after season.

Boots come in more than just black. If your main wardrobe is full of black, black and more black, then consider wearing a colored boot. Bright red, mustard yellow, jade or cobalt blue tall boots will make a bold statement that is far from old.

No doubt about it, boots can give a frumpy wardrobe an infusion of youth and vitality. Try different styles until you find the pair that makes you feel more like yourself and then get out there and strut your stuff!
