The film industry is changing, and Austin's role in this evolving industry is growing exponentially. The time is ripe for local independent filmmakers, and their need for a community, like Bootstrap Austin's Film subgroup, is becoming vital to their success.

Bootstrappers meet monthly to brainstorm ways in which they can succeed without the constraints of traditional methods and models. Applied to the film industry, bootstrapping is likeminded self-starters coming together to create new ways of approaching their filmmaking.

Those interested in learning about Bootstrap Austin's Film Subgroup are invited to attend the first Bootstrap Film Festival. The event will be held at The Regal Arbor Cinema in Great Hills, on June 26th. The evening begins at 6pm with a series of short films, all made by bootstrap filmmakers. Following the screening will be a Q & A session and an entrepreneurial workshop.

The goal of the evening is to "give the audience an understanding of bootstrapping techniques that they can use on their film projects, start-ups, and existing companies." - Brandy Rainey Amstel, leader of the Bootstrap Austin Film Subgroup. The evening will celebrate innovation and ingenuity. It will testify to the power of non-traditional thinking and wake the audience up to a world of possibilities.
