Booty Pop Panties; High Fashion or Lunacy?

Susan Elliott
While flipping the channels at night, I came across a home shopping channel. It was very late, and I was suffering from insomnia, yet again. What I stumbled upon had me rolling in the bed, and pounding on my husband so he would wake up and watch. Have you seen the new "Booty Pop" panties?

Let me first go on record to say that I love Jennifer Lopez and have always been a vocal person regarding her figure. She is a beautiful women; who happens to have a gorgeous round backside. However, there was a time that she was criticized for her curvy figure.

Beauty trends come and go, on what seems like a daily basis, and unfortunately, many women are a slave to these fashions. Instead of embracing their beautiful shapes and sizes they add padding, wear girdles and generally live their lives with what Erma Bombeck once called, "creepy crawly underwear."

Perhaps I am a little out of touch. I am a mother of three, a freelance writer and an artist. In other words, I am the typical busy mom. I also have a husband who would love me, and think I was beautiful even if I were a hippo in a tutu. Maybe that and the fact that I have an ample enough "natural booty pop" that I would never add to it, is why I was left mouth agape, over this new product. Did I mention the snorting? I could have given Sandra Bullock's character from "Miss Congeniality" a run for her money.

It seems that Booty Pop panties are the latest trend in disguising natural beauty with lunacy. Something akin to the large football style shoulder pads of the 1980s. While the Booty Pop panty makers have a lofty goal, which is to help woman have a "bootylicious" figure without surgery, it is a hilarious concept. (Don't forget that they are also trying to turn a profit in the retail industry, another lofty goal.)

Booty Pop panty makers are actually succeeding with some modern women in Hollywood and out. Women who are starving for a 20 year old behind, are actually fooling themselves into thinking that these padded panties look natural.

During the shopping channel's commercial they focused in on a model wearing the Booty Pop panties underneath a silver dress. She seductively climbed the stairs, and with each step a big boulder like buttock pressed tightly against her dress. It was truly laughable; like watching a Saturday Night Live sketch on the shopping channel.

Beautiful models all over the screen were disguising their natural rumps and svelte figures with padded panties. The trim woman suddenly had a rump twice its normal size, and she was happy about it!

Does this mean that there is a chance for the rest of us, not so skinny women out there? I doubt it. But, the fact that so many women are clamoring to get their backsides padded just amazes me.

What planet are these women living on? No woman wants a bigger behind. In fact, people are obssessed with the opposite
    why make yourself look terrible?

What woman thinks her behind isn't quite big enough? What planet are they living on?

I agree with Lyn here. I wish women would be more confident, and ignore the media's celeb obsession.

lol The things women do to enhance their beauty. I am all for going natural with all aspects of beauty. To me, real is always the best, no matter the person. we are all beautiful in our own way. :-)

I just had to laugh while reading this article. I too, have been blessed with a generous rump, and I cannot believe that any woman would want to wear those panties. I agree with you, Susan, about being happy with our natural figures and accentuating those rather than appearing to have something that we don't. :)

I agree completely. We should embrace our own beauty. We shouldn't be a slave to the fashion commentators on the idiot box. LOL!
