Borat Should Not Be

Borat a Great Movie Film

JACK STEVENS
Jagshemash!! If you have not heard of Borat, or have not yet seen his film or appearances on the Ali G Show, you should do whatever it takes to take in a viewing. Borat is a character acted out and created by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. Cohen created the Ali G Show on HBO, a comedic varitey show featuring several characters created by Cohen, who also played in Talledega Nights as French driver Jean Girard, Will Ferrell's nemesis.

Borat is a television reporter from Kazakhstan, and whiile Borat is just Cohen in character, the people he interviews and interacts with are not acting and do not know they are the butt of Cohen's jokes. In Borat, the movie, there are several instances where Borat gets the people he has met to make total asses out of themselves, only because they think they are on Kazakhstan televison, not an American movie.

In several instances, Borat makes some offensive Jewish jokes. Cohen himself is Jewish and was born in Britain to Orthodox parents. He uses the jokes to point out that terrible stereotypes and bigotry still exist and we should realize. As his character Ali G says, 'Keep it Real.'

On the Ali G show Borat's appearances are usually just stand alone segments, but in the film Borat embarks on an adventure accross America in search of Pamela Anderson. He encounters people all over America, form New York City through the south and across the plains into the west all the way to California, with each stop comes a different, interesting and most important, hilarious experiences.

Borat and his new move film are the modern equivalent of Manifest Destiny, and are well worth the price of admission.
