Born Again Politicians

Oh my gawd; the black dude from Illinois won the South Carolina primary by what looks like a butt kicking majority. This victory has got be scaring the crap out of the democratic political establishment. The young man may not have the much needed time in the saddle to be president like my guy McClain but the senator from Chicago sure as hell has the poise intelligence, strength, dignity and grace under pressure to offer a firm challenge to one of the better established, and more powerful and brutal political machines on planet earth. It also looks like the gentleman has the clinkers. We would do well to congratulate the man
.
If the style of slash and burn politics that his adversary's political machine is more comfortable with continues, only a few will survive the blood letting within the Democratic Party. There will be "blood on the moon". But, it should not be a surprise. The ruthless Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, who along with his buddy Leon Trotsky dominated the Russian revolution after World War 1 by far less than honorable means was the first to point out that "to make an omelet a few eggs have to be broken". Lenin did okay managing to crack a few skulls, survive an assassination attempt on his life and coping with the stress of clinging to political power along the way; his associate Trotsky wound up exiled from Russia and while living in Mexico was assassinated, presumably on the orders of an old adversary.

Certainly Barack Obama is more completely aware of struggles for political power and these wars between the old and firmly established and the new that hold so much promise for good but often fail so dismally. But, if the honorable senator from Illinois forgets or weakens, my guy McCain can offer the example of what it takes. Mr. McCain has been fighting the good fight for over twenty years. My hero from Arizona may not be able to produce a truly impressive academic record, nor is he as eloquent behind a podium, nor as pretty as he once was, but the senator as a younger man demonstrated a joy for a good fight that earned him the nickname "Nasty" and when he refused to accept the less than honorable political behavior going on around him in the senate, he earned the moniker, "Maverick".

Mr. Obama is now establishing the beginnings of a well earned reputation with the words "yes we can". Mr. McCain has the advantage of a well earned reputation for success. By excelling as a naval aviator, war hero, and statesman, he has also earned their trust. When people are playing nice- nice, he is a gentleman. His mantra is "we will".

Strangely enough, any political battle between Mr. Obama and Mr. McClain for votes in the national election will not be between the broadsword and the rapier, the old and the new. Each political camp has demonstrated a preference for open and honest debate, the exchange of ideas and the plans for the future success that have been neglected but now under a new and more enlightened leadership will be realized

Struggles for political power based on class warfare, race, and gender may become a thing of the past. If it does, it will be due to the political courage and more proper leadership of men like these gentlemen. .
