Boston Market Southwest Style Chicken Review

Nicole A.
Boston Market Southwest Style Chicken smells tangy, which was tolerable for a while. After this frozen entrée finished heating, the scent started to make me a little nauseous. The meal comes in a medium sized tray with one section for mashed potatoes and a section compartment for the main food. It has grilled white meat chicken covered with small pieces of cheddar cheese. I also noticed small pieces of red and green peppers along with zucchini.

The cooking directions on the box provide two different options for preparing this Boston Market frozen entrée. I chose to heat the mean in a microwave rather than a conventional oven, which was the second option. Boston Market Southwest Style Chicken took longer than the 4½ minutes that was listed in the directions. I paid $2.99 for this Boston Market Frozen entrée because it was on sale. The Boston Market Southwest Style Grilled Chicken meal is usually $4.99 at many grocery stores in my county. This frozen entrée was still not worth the money, even with a discount.

I would not purchase Boston Market Southwest Style Chicken again whether it was cheaper or sold at the same price. The sauce does have a little kick to it that prevents it from tasting bland. However, the sauce in this frozen entrée is still relatively lame. The vegetables could have been larger in size to help create a more fulfilling frozen meal. Instead, these vegetables were more like a garnish for the sauce to give it extra flavor.

There were so many zucchini seeds and possible tomato seeds that were a distraction that it would have been better if whole vegetables were included. The sauce was thick and plentiful but there were not many pieces of chicken. The chicken had grilled marking on it, which matched the description on the box. The mashed potatoes had lots of small potato buds in them but did not taste great. The Boston Market Southwest Style Chicken frozen entrée is very unhealthy. I did not notice that this meal is loaded with 1,220 milligrams of sodium, at 51% of an adult's daily value.

The frozen entrée also has 410 calories, 14 grams of fat (21%), 5 grams of saturated fat (24%) and one gram of Trans fat. This Boston Market Southwest Style Chicken meal is definitely not good for any diet whether you are trying to lose weight or not. It also contains 65 milligrams of cholesterol (21%), 13 grams of sugar and 45 grams of carbohydrates (15%). The Boston Market Southwest Style Chicken entrée does have some nutritional value with 25 grams of protein and lots of Vitamin A (20%), Vitamin C (40%), Calcium and Iron. I would not feed this frozen entrée to a child because it is worse than many snack products sold at neighborhood convenience stores.
