Event Packed Nine Days Are Planned for the Boston Pride 2009

The Boston Pride 2009 nine day festival is scheduled to begin on June 5th and runs through June 14th. Activities
over the nine days will include the kickoff with the official Flag Raising, Boston Pride 2009 Parade, Boston Pride 2009 Festival, and the 1st Annual King and Queen of Boston Pride Pageant 2009.

Join thousands of revelers for the many events to celebrate Boston Pride 2009. Here are just a few of the events planned:

Boston Pride 2009 Event #1
This year there will be a Boston Pride Idol 2009 competition. The auditions will be held at various venues throughout the city. If you would like to audition for the Idol competition then you can get an Idol Audition form here. The top ten finalists will compete live with an audience at Club Café, with the winner singing at the Festival on June 13th.

Boston Pride 2009 Event #2
The very first King and Queen of Boston Pride Pageant will be held this year. This very fancy, upscale, glittery pageant will be held on June 11th at The Estate, 1 Boylston Place in Boston at 7 p.m. Auditions for the Pageant will be on May 28th, the location is known only to contestants. If you want to be a contestant then you need to fill out this form here and pay a $10 entrance fee.

Boston Pride 2009 Event #3
At the Boston City Hall on June 5th the celebration officially begins with the Boston Pride 2009 Flag Raising at 12 noon signaling the official start of Boston Pride week and with an introduction of the Marshalls for 2009.

Boston Pride 2009 Event #4
The 16th Annual Pridelights! celebration happens Tuesday June 9th from 7:00 pm - 9:00 at the Boston Center for the Arts Plaza at 539 Tremont Street. This Boston Gay Pride tradition, the includes popular entertainers, started back in 1993 as a beginning of the annual AIDS prevention and education that the agency performs.

Boston Pride 2009 Event #5
And Saturday June 13th brings the Boston Pride Parade with 7,500 marchers, 45 floats, 170 unique groups and in 2008 there were 500,000 viewers, it promises to be a magnificent event. The most extravagant and biggest parade begins at 10 a.m. in Boston and will bestow to participants awards for the Best Float, Best Marching Group and Best Adaptation of the Theme. The Parade ends at City Hall Plaza where the Boston Pride 2009 Festival is then held.

Boston Pride 2009 Event #6
On June 13th at City Hall Plaza is the Boston Pride 2009 Festival directly following the Parade. This years Festival will feature live music, delicious Boston food, tons of vendors selling their wares and informative community groups. Come and hang out, watch the festivities on the Pride Jumbo-Tron screens that will be erected. The festical goes until 8 p.m.

Boston Pride 2009 Event #7
Sunday June 14th brings the 8th Annual Stuart Street Block Party from 12 noon to 8 p.m. The entrance this year will be on Berkeley Street and the fee is a $10 donation to Boston Pride. New for this year is a cocktail-free zone, a non-smoking zone and bis will be available in case you want to go green for the event. The very popular Tracy Young will be back also.

Boston Pride 2009 Event #8
The group MassEquality will host the 5th annual Jamaica Plain Block Party on Sunday June 14th from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Perkins Street between S. Huntington Ave and Centre Street in Boston. They will be collecting signatures to promote support of transgender equality for the LGBT.

    Philly is having absolutely ZILCH public, free events this year, budget cuts you know. Looks like Boston still has a few bucks in their pocket!
