Boston Red Sox 2010

Jason Bay or Matt Holliday
Boston sports is one of my biggest passions, but my favorite team out of all them is the Red Sox. Now, what people are saying to me is that, we need to keep Jason Bay, he is the best prospect out there. Well, that might be true but there is another player to look at, like Matt Holliday. Now I know he did pretty bad with the Athletic's, but look how great he did for the Cardinals, he was a nice pick up for them. He hit .313 while with the Cardinals, why wouldn't we want him. Some people say because he plays in the National League, but if Bay wants to bite for more, do we take his .273 batting average? Bay does play the wall like a pro, but Holliday is a great fielder too, but people just like how Bay is in the club. So, that said, should we keep Bay or Holliday? If Bay wants more, I say Holliday, if Bay accepts Boston's offer, I say Bay.

Pitching Staff
Beckett's last year just expired, are we going to sign him again? Most likely Beckett will stick around because of how he turns up in the playoffs, not to mention his impact on the community in Boston. But what about Clay Bucholtz, who pitched amazingly the second half of the season for Boston, will he stay? Right now we know Theo Epstein wants Felix Hernandez, who is probably one of the greatest youngest pitchers to exist in the MLB as of now. Seattle can't hold on to Hernandez anymore, they don't have the budget, and with the Yankees and other teams with big budgets out there, he most likely won't stay with Seattle. Since Bucholtz has proved he can start, will we trade him and some other Minor League prospects for Hernandez, we definitely know teams will be looking at Bucholtz. Daisuke Matsuzaka will get another chance, there is no way they are going to leave him after spending so much time to fix him.

1st basemen
We all know how Adrian Gonzalez has done this past year, hitting a .277 with 40 homeruns and 99 RBI's who will be looking for him? We know the Red Sox want him, but who else is willing? He has the perfect swing for Fenway, and will hit a lot of homers if given the chance to join the Red Sox. Who is going to play first? Well, Kevin Youkilis will probably move to third while Mike Lowell can get some days off and play off the bench, but when that happens I feel that Youkilils will move over to first while Gonzalez sits. All I know is, we need another big bat.

Shortstop
While Alex Gonzalez did hold up, and produced more than the Red Sox thought, we still need a hitter than can most always produce. We are going to wait for a healthy Jed Lowrie most likely because of the time we put into him. But right now, I have no thoughts on who can fill that position in, even though Gonzalez was perfect for that spot for the time being.

That is all the thoughts I have for now on the Red Sox and what 2010 might have a possibility of looking like.
