Boston's 5 Best Date Locations: From Top of the Hub to The North End

Pedro Falci
Known for its history, its universities, and its sports teams, Boston, Massachusetts is truly a vibrant city. If you're looking to go on a date in this beautiful northeastern metropolis, here are some ideas for great places to visit.

5. Newbury Street: Newbury Street's eight blocks of shops, restaurants, and cafes make it an ideal place to take a date during the day or night. Boasting a mix of big-name stores and independent boutiques, Newbury can be a lot of fun for window shopping with your date. The brownstone architecture gives it a very quaint feel, and the outdoor cafes are a great place to socialize during the spring time. At night the decorated trees and smaller crowds make Newbury a very inviting spot.

4. The Boston Commons and Boston Public Gardens: these beautiful parks are the ideal place for a daytime date and are only separated by a street. The lush Public Gardens are a very romantic place to walk and take pictures, whereas the Commons are perfect for picnics and outdoor events. When the cold season hits, you can till have a good time. Just take your date ice skating at the Commons' Frog Pond, the perfect place to indulge in winter's festivities.

3. Red Sox and/or Celtics game: Boston is one of the biggest sports towns in the country and benefits from the fact that their teams are really good! Take advantage of Boston's sports culture by seeing a baseball game in legendary Fenway Park. Tickets can be tough to come by, but there are plenty of online ticket listings during the season (and don't forget scalpers). If your date is more of a basketball fan, take her to see the 2008 NBA champions, the Boston Celtics. The Celts play at TD Banknorth Garden, and while tickets will also be hard to find since the team is back on top, they are generally cheaper than Red Sox tickets.

2. The North End: Just a few blocks from the Celtics arena is the North End, Boston's very own authentic Italian neighborhood. With some of the finest cuisine in the city, the North End is the perfect place to grab dinner and dessert. If its narrow streets prove to be too crowded, though, you can make your way to beautiful Christopher Columbus Park, located a few blocks south of the North End. Overlooking the Boston Harbor, Columbus park is a great place to sit down and chat with your date.

1. Top of the Hub: If you seek to be truly romantic and have some extra cash, treat your date to dinner at the Top of the Hub, Boston's restaurant in the sky. Standing on the 52nd floor of the Prudential Center, Top of the Hub offers a beautiful view of the city for you and your date to enjoy over a meal. There is also a bar and jazz lounge where you both can have a drink and listen to live music.
