They even have children's games and teacher toys and they can help you get the book you are looking for. In today's world of Amazon and other dot com bookstores, it is nice to know that you can go to a bookstore for a more personal touch. Quiet and cheery, the bookstore is geared to enhance learning and has classes ranging from Vegetarian cooking to Historical lectures.
Jaalah DuPont will be teaching a writing course June 11th and the 25th at 7pm to 9pm on Wednesday evenings. The two classes of two hours each will go over students writing and give them some pointers on publishing and getting the creative juices flowing.
Other classes include Dr. Elenor Levy, formerly of the New Jersey Folklife Project, on June 17th a Tuesday From 7-8pm, will present "How to Gather a Family History."
Another class will be a Wednesday, July 16th from 7-8pm where renowned local town historian, Richard Williams will talk about Nolan's Point and local Hopatcong History.
And on August 13th, a Wednesday from 7-8pm Karen Olsen from the Edison National Historical Site will lecture on "The Wizard of Menlo Park"
The bookstore also features children's programs on occasion, from "Discovering Dinosaurs" to a reading fairy.
The Botanical Bay Bookstore is attractively decorated and has rows of books on bookshelves. The friendly owner helps people find what they are looking for and can help you with your research needs.
Perhaps the best thing about it is the wide variety of books, there are writing books, paperback novels and you can trade in paperbacks for more books. It is nice to find a used bookstore in New Jersey that focuses on education. I can't find enough good things to say about it. They have just opened up and it would be really nice if you were in the area to stop by and take a look around.
You never know what you might come home with. The books are in good condition and are very nice for research or pleasure reading. You might even find a gem.
