California created wines. France Created wines. A British man living in France heard of California wines and decided to take a trip to taste them not expecting much at all and then he found that things were not what he had thought. Bottle Shock.
This story is based on a true story. BASED on a true story meaning that Hollywood took great liberties in telling it, or so it would seem based on what I've read.
I was entertained by the entire film. There were a lot of old people around us seeing this film. I don't know much about wines but I know a lot about good story telling and I think that it was a story that was told well because I was not bored.
I got to see Chris Pine again and maybe again before he comes out in the new Star Trek film next Summer. I got to see how well he acts. I think he'll make a good Kirk just not a physically good Kirk, unless he worked out and de-skinned himself. In this film he was the son and he did a good job of being the overly self-righteous male who can sleep with whomever but did not allow the same for his love interest. Kind of annoying but that was easily allowed since the rest of the film was feel good and humor filled.
I had no clue what bottle shock meant or that it even had a meaning other than being shocked that something was in a bottle like little Johnny's pee. But apparently it has significant meaning in the wine world. Something to do with bottles in flight and being jostled about.
The acting was decent enough for the film itself. It was just a good simple film that didn't have a whole lot of fanfare and just a lot of good story. It's not overly dramatic and it's not thrilling, it's just well done and heart touching. If you like feel good films then this one could be good for you to see. It's a movie that will have you rooting for the good old boys.
