Bottle Tops are colored plastic tops that snap onto the top of your favorite beverage cans including pop, iced tea, energy drinks and juices.
When I first saw this As Seen on TV product, I was skeptical. How could the plastic cap keep the liquid from flowing out? Would the Bottle Top really fit on all cans?
To test it out, I gathered together a selection of pop cans including Coke, Diet Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Diet Mountain Lightning (generic), Sprite, Sierra Mist, Diet 7-UP, Minute Maid Lemonade and Yoo-Hoo Chocolate Drink.
The directions told me to wash both the Bottle Top and the tops of the cans. This is good advice since your beverage will cover the entire top of the can when you use the Bottle Top.
My kids and I each tried it on an unopened pop can. The directions say to press straight down firmly until the Bottle Top snaps onto the can. I tried and tried but couldn't get it. My daughter was also unable to snap the Bottle Top onto her can. My teenage son was finally able to snap his lid on. We handed him our cans and he was able to snap our Bottle Tops on our cans. We were pleased to see that Bottle Top fit on all of the cans listed above.
Once the Bottle Tops were on the cans, we read the instructions to learn how to remove the caps. The instructions say, "To remove the Bottle Top from the can, squeeze the can and gently pull off the Bottle Top." That's when we realized our mistake. Bottle Tops only come off easily if the can is empty. After a bit of a struggle, we were able to get the Bottle Tops off the cans.
We decided we needed to try a Bottle Top on an open can. Getting the tops on the opened cans was slightly easier, but still difficult. It really is a tricky process because it is such a tight fit. I was concerned that I would tip a full can of pop all over my counter. My son and I were finally able to snap our Bottle Top on, but my daughter was not able to do it.
Once the Bottle Tops were on the cans, I have to admit it was pretty cool. My son and I talked about how convenient it would be to use these in a car, or at a baseball game, or simply to keep the pesky bees away from our pop when we are outside. It's also great for people who cannot finish a whole can at one time and want to store it in the refrigerator.
The tight seal around the can did a great job at keeping the beverage from leaking out. Unlike the infomercial, when I tipped my can upside down I noticed a small amount of liquid coming out of the top. Therefore I would not use a Bottle Top in lunch boxes or other places where the can would not stay in an upright position.
The lid of the Bottle Top can be a little annoying because the black cap hits your nose each time you take a drink. But once I got in the habit of holding the top down while drinking it wasn't too much of an inconvenience.
Once the can was empty, it was quite easy to remove the Bottle Top. I simply snapped the Bottle Top off, washed the lid with dishwashing soap, and it is ready for the next use. According to the directions, you should not put Bottle Tops in the dishwasher.
I was very happy with the selection of colors in my twelve pack. They include: pink, green, purple, blue, orange and yellow. The different colors help make identifying each person's pop can a lot easier. I also liked how Bottle Tops didn't have a plastic smell or taste.
Overall, I think Bottle Tops are a great way to convert pop cans into bottles. I love the convenience of carrying a bottle around instead of a can. Since cans are much more affordable than bottles, I could see where this product would actually save me money in the long run.
I purchased my twelve pack of Bottle Top at Bed, Bath & Beyond for $9.99.

Post a Commenti have tried them and have the same problem as Trav
I try these bottle cap. I didn't finish my pop so put it in tthe fridge. The next day I tatsed it and the pop was tottaly rancid. A terrible taste.
I threw the tops out immediately
My parents purchased some of these and we couldn't get them to work. If we opened the can first, then tried to put the top on...we just ended up crushing the can and getting soda everywhere because the lid was too tight to easily slip on. If we put the top on before we opened the can, we couldn't get the can opened.
I got a pack of these for Christmas because I have always hated drinking from cans because it comes out too fast and prefer drinking from bottles. I love them and use them often but I do have to agree that it takes some skill to get it on the can the first few times. Great review!
Interesting! I've actually never heard of these, and doubt I'd try them, but I enjoyed your review.
