Bowl Fight Tortilla Chips has an interesting name and a unique packaging. The bag is a light beige with black lettering and little dashes of blue and brown. Instead of the flashy snack bags I an used to, this product definitely makes a statement with it's toned down packaging. I paid only $1.99 for a thirteen ounce bag. I am sure this is an introductory price geared towards gaining a loyal following. Whatever the reason, I was very happy to pay such a low price for such a quality product.
One ten chip serving contains one hundred and fifty calories. There is seven grams of Total Fat in this amount, with one gram from Saturated Fat. The very good news about these chips is that there is no Trans Fat whatsoever. Another plus is that there is no Cholesterol. There is one hundred and five milligrams of Sodium and eighteen grams of Total Carbohydrate in this serving size. Additionally there is two grams of Dietary Fiber, two grams of Protein, two percent of Vitamin C, two percent of Calcium and two percent of Iron. Granted, these minuscule amounts of necessary vitamins is not enjoy to justify over indulging with these chips, but it is a bit comforting to know that a few necessary nutrients are contained in this snack food.
As with the other snacks in this interesting new line, the product is contained in a bag that has a resealable zipper at the top. Those of us with kids in the house know what a battle it is to get them to properly close up a bag after snacking. This results in a waste of money when a portion needs to be thrown away before it's time due to staleness. I love this feature on the packaging as I feel that it will save me money in the long run.
My very first taste of Bowl Fight Tortilla Chips convinced me that I would be purchasing this product again and again. The snacks were all very light and crispy with a great amount of crunch. They were lightly salted and very tasty. The chips held up well under the nacho fixings and the flavor was only enhanced by a few minutes in the oven. The next day I enjoyed a bowl with just a light amount of salsa and I was in heaven. These tortilla snacks are just as enjoyable with condiments as they are alone. The corn flavor is very prevalent, which you don't always get with other chips. I give these terrific snacks a full five star rating. I predict this new line of Safeway munchies will be around for a long time to come.
