"Bownessie" Photo Taken by British Residents

"Bownessie", the name of the monster that has been seen prowling in Lake Windermere in England, has been sighted by two British people, Tom Pickles and Sarah Harrington, who were kayaking on the lake while on a business trip. Lake Windermere is located in the county of Cumbris in the northern part of England.

Bownessie has been seen in Lake Windermere for the past five years, according to eyewitness accounts. The photo taken by Pickles reveals something that has ribbed humps and actually looks like one of those ribbed piping sections that many cities use when a water source is being channeled under a road that is being constructed. It could also be an alligator though I am not sure this reptile can exist where winters get very cold. The creature was seen as moving by Pickles and Harrington so it is entirely possible that it some sort of wild animal, not unlike Nessie of Loch Ness in Scotland, so here are a few possibilities as to what Bownessie might really be:

A leatherback turtle. According to the NOAA Fisheries, this sea animal can grow up to 6 ½' long. That's big enough to compensate what is seen in the photo. Turtles are nice animals and really cool to watch. I doubt one of these guys would be overturning a kayak on Lake Windermere anytime soon.

A four-humped sea camel. Related to Humphrey, the three-humped land camel, this guy (or gal) has fins instead of legs, which makes sense since it lives in water. Bownessie is not the only creature with humps in water, as it has been reported that Nessi has one large hump, too. Having supernumerary humps can be a benefit as they tend to act as floaters to keep the poor animal from drowning.

A mutant alien from another planet. Since this alien lives in England, NASA would not necessarily alert us about this. This mutant could very well have been living somewhere underneath this elongated lake for quite some time now. If the mutant has a tunnel that leads to a cave, then it can remain quite safe from the curious public. The creature only surfaces for food which may unknowingly travel towards its mouth when lunch appears on the surface of the lake.

Photoshop. Little else needs to be explained here.

So whether Bownessie is really a living creature or a digital depiction, it is sure to attract curiosity seekers from all over the world.

    Dear sir/madam
To put on record My wife and myself also saw the object featured on the front page of your newspaper last Thursday.
We arrived on Wednesday at about 4pm at the Beach Hill hotel for a two day break.
The room that we had was elevated, and overlooks the lake. On arrival I opened the patio doors to take in the view, and jokingly said to my wife " look theirs Nessie". The object, which was 3-4 hundred yards out was as shown in your picture.
I looked out again after about 20 minutes, and it had gone.
We are unfamiliar with the area, so do not know the distance from the previously reported siting, and our hotel, but would be interested to know.
