Boyka's Struggle

Craig R. Withers
Blankly staring forward Boyka ponders
The life he's come to know and loathe so well
Despising every inch within his cell
His mind again reaches the edge of sane

And desperately he tries to bring it back
To force it through another endless night
He counts within his mind the days he's left
Until he's free from this ongoing pain

One hundred twenty three is the tally
And once again he's on the brink of gone
